OKLAHOMA LAWMAKERS ARE PLEASED THAT THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATIONS USMCA TRADE AGREEMENT GOING TO GET A VOTE

While some Republicans like Tom Cole, R-Moore were outspoken about their displeasure with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has delayed a vote in the House for more than a year, he and others were happy that it sounds like a vote will take place next week.

All seven members of Oklahoma’s congressional delegation signed a joint statement last week, urging a vote on the deal, which was approved in the previous year by the three countries’ leaders.

Rep. Kevin Hern, R-Tulsa, said, “This is a tremendous step in our relationship with our North American neighbors. The world has changed so much since the creation of NAFTA ... A modern world demands modern updates. It’s a year later than we’d hoped, but I am proud of the work we’ve done to find consensus on the USMCA and bring it to the floor for a vote.”
